So it’s been two years since the reboot now, and giving up all the DCnU books over the past year has been one of the happiest decisions of my comic book reading life. No more stomachaches on a weekly basis and I still have tons of old trades to read so it’s not like I gave up my favorite characters altogether.
And I have to admit…as a human being who tries to be decent, I still get pissed at all the bullshit DC still pulls (oh btw, nice way to celebrate your second DCnU anniversary, DiDio, you are my hero…which probably means that your personal life sucks, but what can you do), but, as a fan…it’s so liberating to say that I don’t care. Damian’s death didn’t affect me at all. Now I hear rumors about Dick, and I don’t care. They can do whatever they want. This version of the characters is not what I grew up with. The DCU is done and gone. It’s a long epic that reached its ending and the DCnU is in no way, shape or form a continuation of that, so I really don’t care. Go on, DC, keep destroying everything people love. I enjoy watching you make a fool of yourself every other day.
And those were my yearly 2 cents on the DC reboot.
Day One: Getting it out of the way: How do you feel about the New 52?
I loathe, despise and revile the foul garbage they call a reboot.
The indecent treatment of female characters, the devastation of my beloved BatFamily and the massive fuckup with my favorite Dick Grayson, the erasure of beloved characters, the shitty Superman/Wonder Woman romance, the dissolution or radical change of a lot of relationship except when they need to have drama, the nonsensical plots and the glaring fact that far from clarifying things it made the whole universe an incredibly precarious one where we don’t know what of the past is still valid or not mainly because they don’t know either and are making it up as they go along according to the visions created by their daily dose of crack.
The reboot was a cheap stunt done out of a desperate need for publicity and relevance without a shadow of respect for their audience.
I want a t-shirt that says “I loathe, despise and revile the foul garbage they call a reboot”
